SOVA director Dr. Curtis Collins spoke with Dave White of CBC’s Airplay on Nov. 7th about his recent research that has taken him to Providence, Rhode Island, and then to Portland, Oregon. He is conducting research on the origins and development of octopus bags among Indigenous peoples across North America during the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. This work is funded by the Yukon College research fund.

Dr. Collins  visited the Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology at  Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island.

He then travelled to the Portland Art Museum to continue his research on octopus bags, and saw a lot of art in the process.
