Klondike Institute of Art and Culture Programs
The Klondike Institute of Art and Culture’s mandate is to promote arts in the Klondike region and the Yukon Territory. The Yukon School of Visual Arts (SOVA) is one of the initiatives that DCAS is involved in.
KIAC also operates the Odd Gallery, with an ongoing schedule of exhibitions from local, national and international artists. The Odd Gallery hosts openings and artist’s talks throughout the year.
The Odd Gallery also operates the McCaulay House artist residency, which hosts two artists at a time throughout the year for periods of four to twelve weeks. Visiting artists are responsible for one outreach activity during their stay – either a talk or an open studio – and are engaged as guest instructors and lecturers at SOVA.
KIAC organizes courses, workshops and lessons, and presents plays, films and musical events throughout the year, and also hosts two festivals, the Dawson City International Short Film Festival at Easter and the Yukon Riverside Art Festival in August.
