Overview – Admission Requirements
The Yukon School of Visual Arts requests the following materials to be included in your application package:
1. Official Application Form
Please fill out the official Yukon School of Visual Arts Application Form and include this in your application package.
2. Statement of Intent
Provide a 250 – 500 word statement of intent answering the following questions:
» What are your interests in visual art and what life experiences have influenced these?
» What are your artistic aspirations or career goals? How will the Yukon SOVA Foundation Year Program help you attain these?
» Other than Visual Arts, what forms of expression (e.g. dance, music, storytelling, acting, etc.) do you engage in? How do these contribute to your artistic process?
» What are your motivations to study in Dawson City, Yukon?
3. Academic History/Transcripts
Official transcripts should be sent directly to the Yukon School of Visual Arts from all previously attended secondary and post-secondary institutions.
4. Letter of Recommendation
Provide one letter of recommendation from a teacher, mentor, professional artist, or elder stating their relationship to you and why they think you should be accepted into this program.
5. Portfolio Submission
The Yukon School of Visual Arts requires a visual art portfolio from all prospective applicants. Please see portfolio submission guidelines for more information.
6. Application Fee
Mail a $20 application fee in the form of a cheque or money order. Make payable to “Yukon College”. Please do not send cash.
